These famous line of Nelson Mandela are very optimistic and inspirational. These lines mean that each human being has the light and fire of goodness in him. This light may remain dormant in his being for some time; but when the need arises for this light of goodness, it becomes lighted and dispels the darkness. This light may remain burning at low intensity, but it never burns out; nor can it be extinguished.

These words written by Nelson Mandela in his book, “The Long Walk to Freedom” indicates that every individual has goodness within themselves and though it may not be out there for everybody to see, it still exists.

It is not necessary to keep highlighting the goodness, however; when need arises, one will automatically bring forth their goodness.

It is like a flame which cannot be extinguished ever.
