The factory effluents are acidic in nature.If it is discharged directly into rivers it can lower the pH of the river and cause harm to aquatic life. Hence slaked lime is added to neutralize the acid and it won't be that much harmful to the rivers.

slaked lime is added to factory waste because it it is acidic in nature and when it is discharge without any treatment then it will make the water and river water or other water body is acidic which will be harmful for our used handset is firstly ke print to the factory waste and that is treated with base
