In 1974, India sucessfully conduct its first nuclear test in Pokharan, Rajasthan with the objective to using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes and self-sufficiency. The aggravating nuclear policy of China & Pakistan also played a role in India's decision to test the nuclear weapon.
