explain the following terms with examples endothermic reaction
Answers
Endothermic reaction is a chemical reaction in which reactant absorb energy to form products. In this reaction heat of enthalpy(H) is increased and is positive. As endothermic reaction absorb energy from surrounding it brings about cooling effect in the surrounding. It decreases the entropy (∆S)of the surrounding. Example of endothermic reaction is ice cube melts into water in surrounding temperature. When we observe graph of endothermic reaction, the products takes above position than reactant because when reactant absorb energy, the energy of products formed increases.

Answer:
Explanation:
(i) A reaction in which heat is either absorbed from the surrounding or has to be supplied continuously from outside is called as endothermic reaction. (ii) e.g. melting of ice, dissolution of potassium nitrate in water. During the process of dissolution of potassium nitrate (KNO3 ) in water, heat from the surroundings is absorbed and therefore, the temperature of the resulting solution is less. (iii) The process in which heat is absorbed from outside is called endothermic process. (iv) KNO3(s) + H2 O(l) + Heat → KNO3(aq) Potassium nitrate Water Potassium nitrate solution
