Answer:Chemical formula of Bleaching Powder is CaOCl2 and its Chemical name is Calcium Oxychloride.

It is Prepared by Chlorine gas over dry slaked lime. Generally this method is used in large scale preparation of bleaching powder.

Ca(OH)2 + Cl2 → CaOCl2 + H2O

During the chlor alkali process the brain is electrolysed then cl2 is released which further is used in making of bleaching powder herobrine is NaCl + H2O,

Following is the formation of bleaching powder

Ca(OH)2 + Cl2 = CaOCl2 + H2O

Bleaching powder is used for following purpose,

1 It is used in leather and paper industry for bleaching clothes and paper.

2 It is also used as a disinfectant.

3 It is used as an oxidising agent because it is highly oxidising.
