Copper sulphate crystals are prepared by following the steps :-

→ Take a beaker of water .

→ Acidify the water with concentrated sulphuric acid .

→ Add copper sulphate powder to the water .

→ The powder must be added till the solution is saturated .

→ Filter the solution and after few minutes , crystals of copper sulphate are formed .

Chemical reaction :

\mathtt{CuSO_4+5H_2O\rightarrow CuSO_4.5H_2O}

→ The process is called crystallisation .

→ The salt copper sulphate is also known as blue vitriol .

→ It is because the salt is blue in colour .

→ The water of crystallisation are molecules that enter into a loose chemical combination with water molecules .
