As we know that the sunlight coming from the sun is mixture of many colours of light and each colour of light having different wavelengths and frequency. The wavelength is decreases when we move from red to violet and frequency increases.

Rainbows are formed by the dispersion of light & reflection (not total internal reflection) from drops of water. The rainbow color sequence can be analyzed by drawing a ray diagram of the refraction of sunlight inside water drops.
