1 sodium atom loses its one outermost electron and one chlorine atom accept it. A positive charge generate on sodium and negative on chlorine. the +ve -ve charges attract each other and form ionic compound NaCl

3. Insoluble in organic compounds
4. high melting point
5. high boiling point
6. generally solid at room temperature
