India is a land of cultures and is specially known for its variety. Typically, the seasons in India are divided into 4 categories which are summer (March – May), winter (December – February), monsoon (June – September) and post monsoon also known as north east monsoon (October – November). The span of these seasons varies from 2.5 to 3 months.

India have got four seasons as follows:

Summer : Summer is the hottest of the four temperate seasons, falling after spring and before autumn. At the summer solstice, the days are longest and the nights are shortest, with day length decreasing as the season progresses after the solstice.

Summer 2019 in Northern Hemisphere began on

Friday, 21 June

and ends on

Monday, 23 September

Winter: Winter is the coldest season of the year in polar and temperate zones. It occurs after autumn and before spring in each year. Winter is caused by the axis of the Earth in that hemisphere being oriented away from the Sun.

It begins in december and ends in february.

Monsoon:Monsoon is traditionally defined as a seasonal reversing wind accompanied by corresponding changes in precipitation, but is now used to describe seasonal changes in atmospheric circulation and precipitation associated with the asymmetric heating of land and sea.

It usually starts in June and ends in August.

Post Monsoon: Post-monsoon Depending on location, this period lasts from October to November, after the southwest monsoon has peaked. Less and less precipitation falls, and vegetation begins to dry out. In most parts of India, this period marks the transition from wet to dry seasonal conditions.
