Chambers of the Heart

The right atrium receives blood from the veins and pumps it to the right ventricle. The right ventricle receives blood from the right atrium and pumps it to the lungs, where it is loaded with oxygen. The left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and pumps it to the left ventricle.

The heart is roughly triangular in shape. It is made up of special muscle called cardiac muscle. The size of our heart is about the same as our clenched fist. The heart has four comapartments called chambers inside it.The upper two chambers are called Artrium. The lower two chambers are called Ventricles. The two artria(or artrium) receive blood from the two main veins and the two ventricles transport blood to the entire body and the lungs. The left artrium is connected to the the left ventricle through Valve.Similarly,Right artrium is connected to right ventricle through Valve. These valves prevent the backflow of blood intro artria when the ventricles contract to pump blood out of the heart to the rest of the body. The job of the heart is to pump the blood around our body.
