A nephron is the basic structural and functional unit of the kidney.

Its main function is to regulate water and soluble substances by filtering the blood, reabsorbing water and excreting the rest as urine.

Nephrons eliminate wastes from the body, regulate blood volume and pressure, control levels of electrolytes and metabolites, and regulate blood pH.

A Nephron is responsible for removing waste materials, stray ions, and excess water from the blood. The blood travel through the glomerulus, which is surrounded by the glomerular  capsule.
As the heart pumps the blood, the pressure created pushes small molecules through the capillaries and into the golmerular cpaule
