Cyclone Fani affected Sri Lanka, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, East India, Bangladesh and Bhutan in 2013. The Indian Meteorological Department tracked a depression on the west coast of Sumatra on 26 April. On 27 April Indian Meteorological Department gave warning of a cyclone and named it Fani.
At least 64 people died in Odisha. A teenager was hit by a falling tree and died. One woman died as she got hit by flying debris and another died of heart attack while she was in shelter-home. The cyclone affected electricity supply and telecommunication in several areas of Odisha. People lost lives, crops, animals and houses. The damage was enormous.
