the sky appears blue to the observer on earth because of atmospheric refraction , the tiny particles present in the atmosphere refract the light rays and blue is refracted most from the white light, hence the sky appears blue. but for an observer from space the colour of the sky will be black as atmospheric refraction is not possible from such high altitudes
