Green revolution had short gains and longer losses

harmful effects of green revolution :

a) in green revolution high yielding variety seeds are used . for these seeds we need to irrigate a lot . in this way in the region's where green revolution took place the ground water decreased and now people are suffering with lack of water

b) green revolution encouraged usage of fertilizers . these fertilizers decreased fertility of soil . now the people of those areas are suffering as lands fertility decreased

C) during green revolution farmers used excessive pesticides . these pesticides mixed with ground water and thus spoiled the health of people of the areas of green revolution
