Explanation:

In colonial rule, all waste lands seem unproductive. It has neither produced revenue nor it has been given to produce agricultural produce nor does the production of agriculture Thus, it was seen as 'barren land' which was required to be brought under cultivation. From the middle of the 19th century, the rules of the 'Eland Wasteland' were enforced in different parts of our country.  

By these rules, unused land was occupied and given to selected persons. Various concessions were given to these individuals and they were encouraged to settle on these lands. Thus, barren land gradually turned into agricultural land. The colonial government imposed tax on these lands and earned revenue from these lands.

  • Due to lack of feed for animals, their animal stock declined.
  • Due to restrictions on livestock loss, poverty, mobility, many people changed their way of life and became agricultural laborers, small workers etc.
