Osmosis is the passage of fluid particles from a larger concentration to a lowering concentration through a partly porous layer.

Osmosis equalizes the pressure and density of the suspension on either side of a semi-permeable layer by moving water fragments from the high-concentration surface to the low concentration surface by transpiring through the partition of semi-absorbent matter which prevails connecting both sides. By the method of osmosis, nutrients get expatriated to cells and trash substances get removed out of it.

Importance of Osmosis in Living beings:

The osmosis has the important roles in the plants as well as in animal life. In the osmosis process the water flows from the high concentration to low concentration so it helps in the cells to gain nutrients from the environments.

In the plant cells plant absorb water and nutrients through process of the osmosis from the soil.

In the animal cell fresh water organisms take water through process of the osmosis. It also helps to maintain the pressure of the inter and inter cellular fluid balance.
