1. In the direction of consumer protection the Indian government has taken a major set up in 1986 and inacted the consumer protection act in 1986 which is properly known as COPRA. Under COPRA three tier quasijudicial machinery at district, state, and national level was set up for redressal of consumer dispute.

2. The district level court of the quasijudicial machinery for redressal of consumer dispute in India is to deal with the case involving claims b/w 0 to 20 lakhs.

3. The state level court deals with the case involving claims b/w 20 lakhs to 1 crore.

4. The national level courts deals with the case involving claims exceeding Rs 1 crore.

5. If a case is dismissed in district level court the consumer can also appeal in state and then in national level court.
