The outer part of the ear is called pinna. Pinna collects the sound from the surroundings and then it reaches the eardrum. When the sound waves strike the eardrum, it moves inwards and outwards to create vibrations.
These vibrations are then picked up by special types of cells in the inner ear. From the inner ear the vibrations are sent to the brain in the form of signals. The brain perceives these oscillations as sounds.
