The line picked from scene ll act l of merchant of Venice, spoken by Portia in reply to morraçco's proposal of marriage, where he asks her not to judge him by his looks alone that his blood is no way inferior. Portia replies she has no choice of her own .she can only be won through the competition her father has arranged. the line by the nice directions of maidens eye mean she cannot decide on her impulse, what her eyes behold could be attractive or like any ordinary woman who would easily succumb to looks she would not. Portia is projected a woman of substance, she doesn't take Morocco at face value,or is she carried away by his speech. she simply makes him clear she is least bothered about looks and lineages and to take her the suitor has undergo the trial her father has arranged.what her eyes perceive is immaterial to her .
