Principles of Democracy: Rule of law, freedom of press, respect of human rights, active political processes & enlightened citizens. Each of these 'basic' to democracy, meaning that democracy can't exist without all of them. ... Laws represent the will of the people.

Democracy is based on the will of people and its function according to their consent. It is a fact that democratic government cannot ingnore the interest of of the people to run administration the government make policies and plan keeping mind public interest and representative elected by people due respect to wishes of people.

• Free and fair election

Holding election at a regular interval of time it is not a sufficient condition for a country to be called as democratic the election should be free and fair because most of the time in countries like China and Mexico the government or external parties make illegal use of the machinery of government to win elections which is not free and fair

• one person one vote

this is the third feature of democratic country in India we have system of adult franchise under which citizen of India who is of the age of 18 years or above has Right to vote and this is the very spirit of democracy that is democracy should have Universal adult franchise and every person has one value of one vote

• Rule of law and respect for rights

This is another feature of democratic government selection the basic parameters for democratic country but is also very important that how should a government work after elections democratic government and according to the constitution and there should be a constitution which also respect people suppose addition and all citizens are should be provided with some basic rights and it is the duty of ruler to protect this basic right.
