Characteristics of tropical rainforests

Very wet with over 2,000 mm of rainfall per year.

Very warm with an average daily temperatureof 28°C. The temperature never drops below 20°C and rarely exceeds 35°C.

The atmosphere is hot and humid .

The climate is consistent all year round. There are no seasons.

These forest are found in the heavy rainfall areas of western ghat, andaman and nicobar islands, lakshawdeep islands, upper parts of assam and Tamil nadu coast.

This forest receive rainfall above 200cm.

Due to heavy rainfall the height of the tree is about 60mts.

Important trees are ebony, mahogany, rosewood, rubber and cinchona.

Important animals are lion, tiger, elephant, monkey, lemur and deer.
