♦ Inertia: It is the property of a matter by which it continues in its existing state of rest or uniform motion in a straight line unless that state is changed by an external force.
Example: When you suddenly applies brake in your car is an example showing inertia, you falls in forward direction.

♦ Inertia of rest: The inherent property of a body by virtue of which it can't change its position of rest is called inertia of rest.

♦ Inertia of motion: when an object is in motion, its tendency to continue in its same state of motion is known as inertia of motion.

hope it helps....

INERTIA - the tendency of a body to keep in rest or continue in moving is                       called inertia.
example- when we shake the branches of the tree the leaves tend to                              remain at rest due to inertia and hence detach from the                                      branches of the tree

inertia of rest: the tendency of body to remain at rest is called inertia of rest.

inertia of motion: the tendency of body to continue in motion is called                                             inertia of motion.

when we sat on a bus we tend to remain at rest but when the bus start moving at that moment we fall backwards due to the inertia and when the bus stops we tend to come forwards. all these is because of inertia.
