the peasants were forced to grow cash crops that is Indigo jute oilseeds sugarcane tea coffee and cotton these crops were used in the British manufacturing industries and so the company encouraged their cultivation .
the East India Company introduced three new revenue settlements permanent settlement ,ryotwari system and Malwadi system .
the permanent settlement was introduced by Lord Cornwallis in 1793
the ryotwari system was introduced in Bombay and Madras .
the Marwari system was introduced in Uttar Pradesh and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Punjab .
