Answer:

To attract flies or other prey, the Venus flytrap secretes nectar on to its open traps. Insects smell the sweet nectar and once they land on the leaves, they trip the trigger hairs on the outside of the traps. This causes the cells in the leaves to expand. In less than a second, the leaves shut.

Answer: The venus fly trap has a few hair with nectar on it. When and insect looks at the different looking leaf and smells the nectar it goes and sits on it, due to which the hairs are triggered. This make the leaf shut down. It only keeps animals with the perfect size. Larger ones cand open up and smaller ones escape through the gaps on the leaves. The leaf of a healthy venus fly trap can shut in almost half a second!
