explain the mechanism of water movement from the roots up to the leaves

Explanation:

There are 2 ways

i) Root Pressure - The roots in contact with soil actively take up ions creating a difference in the concentration of ions. The water moves into the roots to eliminate the difference in the concentration of ions thus a steady channel of water enters the roots

ii) Transpiration - The water lost through leaves is replaced with the water from xylem vessels of the leaf. So the there is a suction that pulls water from the roots.
