While metals are good conductors of electricity and heat, non-metals are poor conductors. Unlike non-metals, metals are ductile, which means they can be stretched into wires. Another difference between metals and non-metals, is that the former has a metallic luster, while the other does not.

Metals are the elements which can be malleable, ductile, good conductor of heat and electricity and have Lustre. They donate the electrons and form electropositive ions.
Non metals are the elements which are non malleable, non ductile and bad conductors of heat and electricity. They accept electrons and form electronegative ions.
