The supply of water to crops at different intervals is called irrigation. The time and frequency of irrigation varies from crop to crop, soil to soil and season to season. In summer the frequency of watering is higher.
Sources of irrigation-: Wells, tube Wells, ponds, rivers, dams and canals.
Irrigation is of two types-:
=>Traditional methods
=>Modern methods
MODERN METHODS OF IRRIGATION
This method helps us to use water economically. The main methods used as follows-:
-> Sprinkler system- This system is more useful on the uneven land where sufficient water is not available. The perpendicular lupus having rotating nozzles on top are joined to main pipeline at regular intervals. When water is allowed to flow through main pipe under pressure with the help or a pump. It gets sprinkled on the crop as if it is raining.
->Drip system- In this system the water falls drop by drop just at the position of their roots. So it is called drip system. It is the best technique for watering fruit plants, gardens and trees. The system provides water to plants drop by drop. Water is not wasted at all. It is a noon in regions where availability of water is poor.
Hope it helps.............

↝ Water is essential because germination of seed does not take place under dry conditions. nutrients dissolved in water are transported to each part of the plant .
↝ water also protects the crops from both frost and hot air currents . to maintain the moisture of the soil for healthy crop growth , fields have to watered regularly .
↝ the supply of water to crops at regular interval is called irrigation .

• the variety of crop
• the type of soil and the season . in summers , watering has to be done more frequency due to increased rate of evaporation from the soil and leaves.

• plant contain 90% of water and need it for proper growth and development .
• when roots absorb water , They absorb more Minerals and fertilizers .
• germination of seed does not take place in dry conditions.
• nutrients dissolved in water get transport two different parts of plant .
• water also protect crops from Frost and hot air currents.

- Also called the pulley system , it involves pulling of water from a well or other such sources to irrigate the land.
- chain pump consists of two large vehicles connected by a chain . there are buckets attached to the chain . further , one part of the chain dips into water source. As the wheel turns , the bucket picks up water . the chain later lifts them to the upper wheel where the water gets deposited into source . the empty bucket get carried back down .
- is a process of drawing water from a well or such similar source. Here We tie a rope and bucket to the pole . at the other end, we tie a heavy stick or any object as a counterbalance .
- Rahat uses animal labour. above the well , we tie a large wheel and Ox or cow would turn the wheel to draw the water from the well.
- this system is more useful on the uneven land where as sufficient water is not available. The perpendicular pipes , having rotating nozzle on top , are joined to the main pipeline at regular intervals. When we allowed to flow through the main pipe under pressure with the help of Pump , It escapes from rotating nozzle. It get sprinkled on the crop as if it is raining . sprinklers is very useful for lawns, coffee plantation and several other crops .
- in this system , the water drop by drop directly falls near the roots . so it is called drip irrigation. It is that best technique for watering fruit plants , Garden and trees . water is not wasted at all. It is a boon in region where availability of water is poor .
