It regulates the osmolarity of the cytosol by controlling the solute concentration inside the cell. The main function of the N+/K+ ATPase pump is to maintain resting potential so that the cells will be keeping in a state of a low concentration of sodium ions and high levels of potassium ions within the cell .

the na and k ATP phase enzyme is a solute pump that pumps potassium into cells while pumping sodium out of cells, both against there concentration gradients. This pumping is active.
