• The science teacher belonged to Sivasubramania Lyer which are considered as high caste Brahmin.

• In a fine day the narrator was invited for a meal. As for the wife of teacher, she was very traditional and refused to provide food for the Muslim boy in their kitchen.

• As for the teacher he served Kalam with his own hand. The boy also sat near the teacher while eating.

• The teacher again invited Kalam and this time the wife took the boy directly in their kitchen and feed him with her own hand.
