The National River Conservation Plan (NRCP) deals with conserving and cleaning river waters. The National River Conservation Authority reviewed the progress and failures of the Ganga Action Plan (GAP) phase I. The NRCP minutely studied the failures of the GAP and on the basis of the lessons learnt and experience gained from GAP phase I, the plan was applied to other major rivers of the country.
