The main objectives of implementing the NREGA 2005 are :-
1. To increase the income and employment of people.
2. Every state/region can develop tourism, regional craft, IT etc. for additional employment.
3. The central government made a law implementing the right to work in 200 districts.
4. NREGA aims to provide employment of 100 days. If it fails to do so, it will give unemployment allowances to the people.

  • NREGA stands for "National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005" it was implemented by the central government in India made a law implementing the Right to work.
  • It was passed for promoting rural employment for people who are living below poverty line and are able to, and willing to work have been guarantee 100 days employment in a year by the government.
  • If government fails to fulfil or provide employment to those people who registered there name under this Act will be given unemployment allowance.
  • It is applicable for only 200 districts, now it is extended to 330 districts of india.
  • The type of work that would help to increase the production from land will be given preference under the Act.
