✴ Chlorophyll is the green colouring matter found in plants . It is contained in microscopic cell organelles called chloroplast .

Chloroplast are the minute oval bodies bounded by a double membrane and their interior contained closely packed flattened sacs called thylakoids arranged in piles called grana lying in colourless ground substance called stroma . The pigment chlorophyll is contained in the thylakoids . It is a highly complex substance composed of oxygen hydrogen nitrogen carbon and magnesium.
Chloroplast are contained in the mesophyll cells located at the upper epidermis and lower epidermis ( palisade cells and spongy cells ) of leaf .
