Mohenjodaro-Domestic Architecture

  • Mohenjodaro was discovered after Harappa in 1922 by R.D. Banerji.
  • It is located in the present day Sindh, Pakistan.
  • The Mohenjodaro is divided into Citadel and the Lower Town.
  • The Citadel is physically seperated from the lower town.
  • The Lower Town had residential buildings. Many were centred on a courtyard, with rooms on all sides.
  • Every house had its own bathroom paved with bricks, with drains connected through the wall to the street drains.
  • Some houses have remains of staircases to reach a second storey or the roof.
  • There are around 700 wells in Mohenjodaro.
