Peculiarities of industrial growth in India:

* Management by European agencies-

They dominated industrial production in India and were interested in certain products like tea, coffee, jute, cotton, Indigo etc.

* Indian Businessmen avoided competition with Manchester products-

They awarded competing with Manchester goods and their business in yarn production and its trade.

* Pattern of industrialisation affected-

First decade of the 20th C. changed the pattern of industrialisation. Swadeshi Movement gained momentum, boycott of foreign goods, increase in Tariff protection and other concessions.

* Decline in yarn exports-

Indian yarn export declined since production from Chinese and Japanese mills flooded the Chinese Market. So India begin shifting from yarn to cloth production.

* industrial growth slow till World War 1-
