Peculiarities of industrial growth in India:
* Management by European agencies-
They dominated industrial production in India and were interested in certain products like tea, coffee, jute, cotton, Indigo etc.
* Indian Businessmen avoided competition with Manchester products-
They awarded competing with Manchester goods and their business in yarn production and its trade.
* Pattern of industrialisation affected-
First decade of the 20th C. changed the pattern of industrialisation. Swadeshi Movement gained momentum, boycott of foreign goods, increase in Tariff protection and other concessions.
* Decline in yarn exports-
Indian yarn export declined since production from Chinese and Japanese mills flooded the Chinese Market. So India begin shifting from yarn to cloth production.
* industrial growth slow till World War 1-
Even the cotton cloth production doubled between 1900-12 industrial growth was slow till WW1. Industrial production increased only during first World War.
