Hey mate!

HERE IS YOUR ANSWER

The evolutionary history of a particular taxon like species is called PHYLOGENY

The classification based on basis of evolution is called Phylogenetic Classification

Phylogenetic classification is not always possible since there are several gaps in the fossil records which forms the basis of Phylogenetic studies and also evolution is unidirectional

Hope this helps you:)

Explanation:

Phylogenetic classification is the classification of organisms based on evolutionary relationship. This requires comparison of genetic material . This is among the most followed system of classification. This method of classification explains  organisms share a ancestral characters and then they derived a new character to diverge out of the ancestral group. For example, mammals are grouped with vertebrates because they posses a back bone  but later at some point of time they developed body hairs which is not present in any other vertebrate. This relatedness and divergence has been calculated after conducting phylogenetic studies on extant and extinct vertebrate taxa.  However, phylogenetic studies become difficult because the fossil records are not continuous and a line of evolution cannot be traced in case of several organism.
