1. Take a leaf of a plant which is well exposed to sunlight
2. Boil the leaf in methylated spirit over a water bath till it becomes pale white due to the absence of the pigment chlorophyll.
3. Spread the leaf in petridish as well as add few drops of iodine solution
4. Observe the leaf
5. Blue - black colour indicates the presence of starch in the leaf
