HARVESTING: Harvesting is the process of gathering a ripe crop from the fields. Reaping is the cutting of grain or pulse for harvest, typically using a scythe, sickle, or reaper. On smaller farms with minimal mechanization, harvesting is the most labor-intensive activity of the growing season.
WINNOWING: The process of separating the grain from the chaff manually by the action of wind is called winnowing. In this process the mixture is dropped on the ground from a height. The heavier seeds fall almost vertically down, where as the lighter chaff gets blown away by the wind and falls at a distance.
