In this phaseATP and NADPH are used for synthesizing the food. CO2 is fixed to form CO2 fixation products. This stage is also called the dark phase as it is independent of light but deals with the products of light reaction.

The biosynthetic phase of photosynthesis is called dark reactions of photosynthesis and it takes place in the stroma of chloroplast.

This process does not require light from sunlight. In this process, carbon dioxide is reduced to glucose with the help of Hydrogen ions which are produced during the light dependent reactions of photosynthesis.
