Answer:

Lightning is a large-scale natural spark discharge that occurs within the atmosphere or between the atmosphere and the Earth's surface. On discharge, a highly electrically conductive plasma channel is created within the air, and when current flows within this channel, it rapidly heats the air up to about 25,000°C.

1. During the time of lightning the Clouds get electricity charged here the lower side of cloud get negatively charged and upper side positively charged.

2. Earth is positively charged in nature.

3. Now, when the Clouds get overcharged due to continuously collision the amount of charges also increases in the cloud which results to force cloud to shade the energy.

4. As the earth have positive and Clouds have negative charge (on lower side) the both charges get attracted towards each other as a result all energy get to earth these energy we see as lightning.

5. after lightning the cloud get neutralised and again the process starts.

In short

The lightning we see is the static electric charge discharge which is produce by clouds and the charges fall's i.e lightning strike is to neutralise the charges.

hope it helps...
