HOLA friend!!
Rajdeep here....
What is Galvanisation?
Galvanisation is the process by which a substance (metal) is coated with Zinc to resist corrosion.
How does it work?
Generally to avoid rusting, iron is coated with zinc.
Why?
Because, Zinc is a more electropositive metal. So, it has strong affinity for oxygen. First, it reacts with oxygen and forms a thin film (layer) of zinc oxide on its surface, which renders it inactive.
Thus, the iron is saved from rusting.
Iron pipes and reservoirs, which are buried underground, are usually galvanised.
Thanks!!
