Gram Staining....

Bacteria are stained with crystal voilet and iodine solutiin is used as mordant....

Then they arewashed with alcohol and acetone

if the purble color reatined then these are gram +v bacteria.

if the purble color reatined then these are gram +v bacteria.If not then these are gram -ve....

This is all about gram staining ....

1.Cells are stained with crystal violet dye.

2.A decolorizer such as ethyl alcohol or acetone is added to the sample, which dehydrates the peptidoglycan layer, shrinking and tightening it.

3.A counterstain, such as the weakly water soluble safranin, is added to the sample, staining it red.
