The respiratory system, also called the gas exchange system, is the body getting rid of carbon dioxide and taking in oxygen. Carbon dioxide, a waste product, goes out of the body. Oxygen, which the body needs, comes in. The first step in this process is breathing in air, or inhaling. Inhalation means bringing air rich in oxygen into the body. Exhalation means giving out air rich in carbon dioxide from the body. The second step is gas exchange in the lungs where oxygen is diffused into the blood and the carbon dioxide diffuses out of the blood. The third process is cellular respiration, which produces the chemical energy that the cells in the body need, and carbon dioxide. Finally, the carbon dioxide from cellular respiration is breathed out of body from the lungs.

➡Human Respiratory System ⬅
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

⭐The cells in our body require oxygen . Oxygen breaks down the absorbed food in our body and releases energy . This process is called " Respiration " . The system specialising in this function is called " Respiratory System " .

⭐The respiratory system consists of Organs responsible for taking in oxygen and releasing of waste products like Carbon Dioxide and water vapour during respiration .

⭐These organs include

◾Nostrils [ the passage in the nose ]

◾ trachea [ windpipe ]

◾Bronchi [ Further Bronchioles culminating into Alveoli]

◾Lungs

⭐Mechanism of Respiration :
===========================

↪Air enters in through the Nostrils . These have fine hair that trap dust particles. From here it passes though the pharynx or throat cavity to the wind pipe or trachea .

↪The Wind pipe branches into smaller tubes called " Bronchi " . Each of them enters lungs .

↪lungs are two baloon like structure . These are located in the Thoracic Cavity enclosed in a double walled sac called " Pleurea"

↪The Bronchi branches into smaller tubes called Bronchioles. At the end they culminate into air sacs called " Alveoli" .

↪Here , oxygen present in air reaches the blood through blood vessels during breathing . The oxygen thus diffuse in and Carbon dioxide which is a waste product is expelled out .
