- The eggs hatch giving silkworms/larvae.
- The silkworm eats mulberry leaves and grows in size and during this phase they shed their skins 4 times. Shedding of skin is called as moulting.
- The silkworm begin spinning their cocoons.
- The silk farmers start collecting the cocoon. Filaments are obtained from cocoons by the process called reeling or filature. Silk fibers are then spun into silk threads.
