Explain the process of Photosynthesis in plants. List four factors which influence this process and describe how each of them affects the rate of the photosynthesis process.

Photosynthesis:
Photosynthesis is the process in which Plants make their own food using carbon dioxide and water in the presence of chlorophyll and sunlight. The starch is the main product while oxygen is the by product.

The process of photosynthesis is given by the balanced equation:
6CO₂ + 6H₂O   --------------------------------->  C₆H₁₂O₆ + O₂           
                           (Sunlight+Chlorophyll)

The four factors are:
1. Light:
→ When there is less light a plant cannot photosynthesise very quickly, even if there is plenty of water and carbon dioxide.

2. Carbon dioxide:
→ CO₂ decrease will decrease the rate of photosynthesis.

3. Temperature:
→ Photosynthesis needs proper temperature. The rate of photosynthesis decreases when it is too hot or too cold.

4. Water:
→ When water is less, the stomata close leading as a blockage to photosynthesis.
