Preparation:-

Bleaching powder is prepared by the action of chlorine on dry slaked lime.

Reaction:-

Ca(OH)2 + Cl2 -----> CaOCl2 +H2O

Use:-

It is used for disinfecting drinking water to make it free from germs.
