Regeneration is a type of asexual reproduction. In this process the organism has the ability to generate lost or damaged body parts. If a Planaria is cut into small pieces, then each piece develops into a new individual

Regeneration in planaria and how regeneration is different from reproduction is explained below:
- Planaria is a worm of the phylum Platyhelminthes of the kingdom Animalia.
- Regeneration is seen in many animals and is the process wherein part or the whole organism can be regenerated from a small part, cells, tissues, and organs.
- For example- Lizards, hydra, and planaria.
- In planaria, a part of the body of planaria is broken and then each part grows into the whole organism.
- In lizard and hydra if one part says the leg is broken then they have a regeneration capability to regenerate the leg.
- In reproduction always a new organism is produced but in regeneration, there may or may not be new organism formation.
- Hydra possesses both regeneration and budding. It can divide by both processes.
