Sedimentation :when the heavier component in a mixture settles after water is added to it, the process is called Sedimentation.
Decantation : when water(along with the dust) is removed, the process is called Decantation. If a mixture of such liquids is allowed to stand for some time, they form two separate layers.
example --sand and silt can be carried in suspension in river water and on reaching the sea bed deposited by sedimentation.
example -- in red wine, where the wine is decanted from the potassium bitartrate crystals to avoid unsavory taste.
