The cell surface receptor is also called a transmembrane receptor, these are the important protein that helps in the cell signaling and cell communication between the cell and the outside environment.
Extracellular ligands like hormones, growth factor, neurotransmitter or the cytokines bind to the receptor which is present at the surface of the cell and result in the conformational changes in the cell that initiate the signal transduction pathway. Cell surface receptor is known to be an important pathway that is required for cell growth, proliferation and survival of cells.
