explain the processes taking place at the submicroscopic level
Answers
The submicroscopic level of representation is based on the particulate theory of matter. It is used to explain the macroscopic phenomena in terms of the movement of particles like electrons, atoms and molecules.
The colour of a solution changes after electrolysis - The colour change of the electrolyte can be explained on the basis of electrochemistry concepts at the submicroscopic level. The colour changes from blue to light blue because the number of copper(II) ions in the electrolyte are reduced when copper(II) ions are discharged at the cathode.
Evaporation - The particles which are moving more rapidly escape and the other particles which are left in the liquid have a lower average velocity.
Gases change into liquids - When the temperature is lowered the particles are attracted towards each other. They form small clusters and remain in the gas phase. If the temperature is lowered further the particles form large clusters and drop to the bottom of the container and combine to form a liquid.
