here, if you add the numbers of every column and every rows even the diagonals...will add up to a number...which is equal for all rows, columns and diagonals...

In the figure given , all the rows of thr square add up to 15

all the columns of the square add up to 15

all the diagonals of the square add up to 15

Therefore it is a magic square.
